Manim

Madam is the new wife of the village minister. She is initially seen as a beautiful bride, but then is suspected to be a fox when her husband falls sick and the Indangsu river does not allow pass of ships. She is found and saved by Cheong in the river when she falls off a boat that her brother uses to catch 'the golden turtle' which they gift to the minister instead of a dowry. She invites Cheong to the mansion to help care for the minister, and the two begin to share a deep bond, becoming romantic over time.

~!The minister's son and his subordinates blamed her for bringing 'the golden turtle' out of the river which was fed to the minister who fell sick and eventually died. They claimed that it angered the Dragoon King which was why the Indangsu river would not allow for passage. She was to be sacrificed as a virgin bride for the Dragon King, but her nanny lied and said her marriage with the minister was already consummated thus she was not the appropriate sacrifice. Instead she invited Cheong with the intention of making her into a maiden fit to be the sacrifice for the Dragon King. However she soon began to fall for Cheong, only feeling happy and truly free from the burdens that society had forced upon her for being a woman when she was with her. She realised that she only cared to be with Cheong and was willing to abandon her life in the mansion and go against what she had been taught from a young age- to be always be submissive, devoted and stripped away of her own personality and will in order to be loved. She used to believe that it was being loved that gave her the power she needed to survive, before meeting Cheong who inspired her and gave her the strength to be truly strong. She ended up killing the minister's son in self defence, and valiantly risking her life as she attempted to save Cheong from being thrown into the river.!~
