Whisper

Whisper is one of the deuteragonists of the Yo-kai Watch franchise. He is also one of the mascots of the franchise, alongside others like Jibanyan, Komason, and Komajiro. He is Amano Keita (aka Nathan Adam's) self-proclaimed Yo-kai butler. Despite his oblivious and sarcastic personality in some versions of himself, mainly the English dub of the anime, he never fails to help the protagonist in his adventures by providing valuable knowledge about the Yo-kai Watch and the Yo-kai themselves.

In the manga, Whisper talks in a very polite manner, also having an uptight personality alongside it. As Nathan's butler, Whisper prides himself in knowing everything about every Yo-kai they encounter, despite checking his Yo-kai Pad for information on their encounter constantly. He enjoys lecturing those around him, more often than not just leading to annoyance from the other side. His Japanese appearance often uses his verbal tick "Whis!", similar to the other mascots of the franchise. In the English dub, Whisper is a lot more oblivious and incompetent compared to his Japanese counterpart, often having a sarcastic tone in voice and always denying the fact that Nathan is right or that a Yo-kai is respos]nsible for everything around them, with Nathan quickly shutting down his argument. Contraily, in the games and manga, Whisper is often the first to consider a Yo-kai being the cause of their issues, and is generally just a more competent character. In the game Yo-kai Watch 2, his oblivious personality from the English dub transfers over, but quickly being tweaked and bettered in the following games. In exclusively the manga, Whisper seems to know almost everything about the Yo-kai they encounter, rarely ever having to use his Yo-kai pad.

Similar to his ghost-like appearance (and the fact Yo-kai are basically the equivalent to ghosts in the franchise), Whisper is able to go through solid objects with no difficulty, though this is not often showcased other than in the games. ~~His powers as Nonuttin/Whispocrates consists of releasing a toxic gas from his mouth, causing anyone in the gas to exclaim "I know! I know!" in response to a question, although their claims are not always true. Due to a freak accident, Whisper is also able to help Nathan switch between his two watches, the Yo-kai Watch and Yo-kai Watch Model Zero, by sticking his arm in his mouth. By fusing with another one of the mascots, Jibanyan, the two Yo-kai can transform into a new Yo-kai named Buchinyan.~~
