Eiji is a high-ranking officer in charge of research and development in the Japanese army, a former Eishi and test pilot with a strong reputation, and the creator of the XFJ project. In the past as a test pilot, he was engaged in the Akebono Project together with his best friend, Takamura Masatada. He loves Yui like a daughter, still making fun of her serious attitude by calling her Yui-chan, and she calls him Uncle. His calm manner of speaking hides a mind of steel, be it the battlefield, or the minefield of military politics. While Eiji was in the military and dedicated decades of his life to his country, he dislikes Yui's obsession with her country and being an ideal soldier.
